Greetings
Introductions of all participants and site visitors will be followed by brief  remarks by Rice University Provost Eugene Levy and Dean of Engineering Sidney Burrus.

All
8:30 AM
The Virtual Grid Application Development Software (VGrADS) Project
We will give an overview of the goals, research directions, and organization of the VGrADS project.

Ken Kennedy
9:15 AM
The Virtual Grid and vg Execution System (vgES)
We will present the design rationale for the Virtual Grid, the design of the Execution System, and an initial prototype implementation.

10:30 AM
VGES Demonstrations
We will continue presenting the design rationale for the Virtual Grid, the design of the Execution System, and an initial prototype implementation.

Henri Casanova
11:00 AM
VGrADS Programming Tools Research: Vision and Overview
We will present an overview of the requirements for Grid programming, the abstract programming models that support it, and the tools that enable effective use of these models.

Ken Kennedy

1:15 PM
Fault Tolerance For Sparse Linear Algebra Computations Implemented In A Grid Environment
We will describe work in progress toward providing fault tolerance for sparse linear algebra computations implemented in a Grid environment.

Jack Dongarra
1:45 PM
Resource Characterization
We describe a new methodology for making statistical predictions of the time individual jobs spend waiting in a batch queue (as might be used on a Grid resource). We also present an empirical verification of its effectiveness and an implementation with the goal of providing such estimates to grid application scheduling.

Rich Wolski

EMAN, Scheduling, Performance Prediction, and Virtual Grids
We will describe experiments with the GrADS and VGrADS infrastructures in implementing the Electron Microscopy Analysis (EMAN) package, and the influence this has had on Virtual Grid development.

Charles Koelbel
3:15 PM
LEAD, Workflows and Virtual Grids
We will describe experiences and collaborations with the Linked Environments for Atmospheric Discovery (LEAD) ITR project, including integration of performance measurement and orchestration atop virtual grids.
